Love Your Auckland Adventure
On Saturday 20 February 2027, the Harper Digital Coastal Challenge returns to Auckland’s North Shore for its 25th edition and there’s plenty to celebrate.
The Coastal Challenge is Total Sport’s longest-standing event, dating all the way back to 2003 when it was created from a simple idea: get people out onto the incredible North Shore coastline and experience it in a way you simply can’t on an ordinary day.
Twenty-five years later, that idea is still at the heart of it. Make the coastline your playground, with different distances, different levels of challenge and plenty of ways to get out there with friends and family.

EXPERIENCE THE North Shore
Run, walk, wade, and rock hop your way down Auckland’s extraordinary North Shore coastline along several of our most beloved beaches. (And yes, you WILL get wet!) A one-of-a-kind event for a one-of-a-kind city.
With multiple course distances, there’s something for all ages, abilities, and levels of adventure. Bring the whole whanau and all your friends - there’s a distance for all and fun and festivities at the finish line.
Event Options
Beach Hopper – 6 km Run / Walk (starts at Takapuna Beach)
Bay Scrambler – 11 km Run / Walk (starts at Milford Beach)
Mini Monty – 17 km Run / Walk (starts at Browns Bay)
Mid Monty – 22 km Run (starts at Long Bay)
Full Monty – 33 km & Teams Relay Run (starts at Arkles Bay, Whangaparoa)
All events finish at Windsor Reserve in Devonport.
Love Your Coast
Head out to your local beach/stream/coastline for a jog and pick up as much rubbish as you can, then post a picture here so we can give you the kudos you deserve. They call it Plogging (a combination of jogging with picking up litter).
This is a great opportunity to get out there and have a first-hand look at the Coastal Challenge course, and help protect our oceans at the same time. #winning

No More Plastic Cups
As trail runners and nature lovers we're keen to do our part to protect our beautiful oceans and reduce the environmental impact of our events. As such the Harper Digital Coastal Challenge is removing disposable cups from all aid stations.
Please remember your reusable cup, hydration pack or water bottle to fill up! We’ll also have collapsible silicone cups available at event base for $5.
