Just wanted to say thanks very much for an awesome event on Saturday. It was my first Coastal Challenge and I thoroughly enjoyed it and plan to be back for more. As a participant the event ran seamlessly from the time I entered until I crossed the finish line. Thanks for putting in the hard work to give us participants and awesome experience.

Chris Kemp

Another brilliant Coastal event on the weekend, a massive thanks! Any chance you have those other coastal races coming up any time soon?

Nev Jordan

Great event! Myself and a friend ran the coastal and had a wonderful run on the 11km. Despite her ability to run this much faster she ran with me and we both thoroughly enjoyed the event and day!

Sheryl

Firstly, I just wanted to say thank you for putting on such a great event! Flying in from Wellington the night before I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was one of the best things I've done. I did the 22km. The terrain, over the first half especially, was gnarly. You can't get more coastal and it certainly was a challenge and an experience!

Matt Calman

I just wanted to pass on to you and all the team at Total Sport how much I enjoyed running in the Full Monty (mad I know) and, as usual, it was a well organised event filled with great volunteers and competitors. I have completed most of the Coastal Challenge distances (including the first year it was run).

Bethany

What an awesome event - thank you so much for putting on such a totally mad event with such an incredibly supportive atmosphere. I cannot remember how many times someone offered me a hand over a rock - and so of course in turn I did the same for those behind me.

Erwin Losekoot

Was my first ever Coastal Challenge and first ever run over 6km (and that I have only done once) so the 11km was a great way to test myself and see the bays I have never seen before!

Becky Ware

The Coastal Challenge was my first off-road event, and both the kids and I loved the 6km run/walk! We didn’t overly know what to expect but we all had an absolute blast! We’ll be back for more of this and other events Total Sport has to offer for sure.

Sharee Major

Thank you for another amazing Coastal Challenge event!

Proudly supporting the following Charities

Total Sport & Colliers Coastal Challenge Series are proud to be supporting Hospice North Shore for the sixth year and Warkworth Wellsford Hospice for the third year. Hospice North Shore and Warkworth Wellsford Hospice are both local charities. They provide compassionate, specialist care to people who are dying, while supporting their families and caregivers. Anyone living with a life-limiting condition such as heart failure, motor-neurone disease, multiple sclerosis (MS) or cancer may benefit from Hospice care.

The majority of people are cared for in their homes, where they feel most comfortable. But this can be an incredibly stressful time, emotionally and physically for everyone involved. Hospice Community Nurses visit homes and spend time with the patient and family, assessing their needs, monitoring medical needs and offering advice and support. They know they are not alone. Hospice believes that the end of life is an important stage and should be every bit as meaningful as those that came before, and therefore deserves a great deal of effort to make that time as pain-free and dignified as possible.

Hospice services are provided free of charge to patients and their families but, between them, they need to raise nearly $5 million a year to continue offering these vital services.

Why not "Run for Hospice" and make a difference. Start an online fundraiser through everyday hero NZ and get sponsored for this fun and worthwhile event.

"We don’t know how we could have gone through the difficult time if not for Hospices help" - Joan (family member)

"Having the reassurance from Hospice gives you the confidence to live your life" - Maurice (patient)

Cure Kids are thrilled to be involved in the Colliers Coastal Challenge, and are looking for eager runners to join us to help make a difference to health outcomes for our children.

Cure Kids are New Zealand’s leading child health research charity, and our vision is a healthy childhood for everyone.

Funds raised from the Colliers Coastal Challenge will go towards vital medical research to help extend, improve and save the lives of kids both here and around the world.

Cure Kids are the only charity in New Zealand that funds research across a broad spectrum of child health. We have funded, or are currently funding, research investigating better treatments and cures for inherited heart conditions, cystic fibrosis, childhood cancers, sudden unexpected death in infancy (SUDI), stillbirth, burns and child and adolescent mental health, among many others.

With the support of generous New Zealanders, we are determined to address alarming health statistics including:

  • Each year in New Zealand 100 children and young people die from inherited heart conditions
  • Up to one in four Kiwi children experience a significant mental health issue before adolescence
  • 40,000 hospitalisations each year in New Zealand attributed to conditions associated with deprivation
  • 50 babies die each year from SUDI, previously known as cot death.

Take on the Colliers Coastal Challenge for Cure Kids, and together let’s give our children the best chance of living a healthy childhood.
